Hours change with the weather. Hannah updates this page by 7:30 every morning.

The season runs from mid-December to the end of January. Six weeks, so don't leave it late.

    Prices

    $18 a kilo.

Entry is free. We lend you gloves for the prickly rows, and the thornless ones are marked.

    Kind words
    1. The kids ate as many as they picked, and they were still the best boysenberries we've had in years.
      Mere T. · Google review · January 2026
    2. Gloves and punnets at the barn, rows marked for the day, and the boysenberry ice cream alone is worth the drive from Auckland.
      Daniel K. · Google review · December 2025
    3. We came on a Tuesday morning and had a whole row to ourselves. Hannah showed the kids how to tell the ripe ones from the red ones.

    Before you come

Five things to know before you drive out.

    • Dogs stay at home

      Guide dogs are welcome.

    • Bring a hat and sunscreen

There's little shade in the rows.

    • Wear long sleeves

The canes are prickly. There are gloves at the barn.

    • Pick only the purple-black ones

Red ones are still sour. Leave them for next week.

    • Toilets are at the barn

There are none out in the field.

    FAQ

    Questions we get every day.

    Do I need to book?

No, just turn up. Groups of 15 or more, please book ahead.

    What happens if it rains?

We close in heavy rain, because wet berries go soft. The top of this page says whether we're open by 7:30 each morning.

Can I buy boysenberries already picked?

Yes. The barn shop sells punnets picked that morning, $12 for 500g. They freeze well too: lay them out on a tray first, then bag them once they're hard.

Is it OK for prams and wheelchairs?

The main path is firm gravel and works for both. The rows themselves are narrow grass and harder going.

Are you open over Christmas and New Year?

We close on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The rest of the holidays we're open, weather permitting.
